Beacon Hospital has been honoured with the Excellence in Patient Care award at the Private Healthcare Awards 2025, recognised for its pioneering approach to enhancing patient safety and communication within its 27-bed cardiology ward.
The award was presented last 17 October 2025 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Santry, Dublin, during a ceremony celebrating Ireland’s leading healthcare providers and innovators.
At the centre of Beacon Hospital’s award-winning initiative is a comprehensive project implemented within its 27-bed cardiology ward to enhance the accuracy of information shared during shift handovers.
The project focused on strengthening communication between multidisciplinary teams, introducing data-driven auditing systems, and embedding best practices that ensure seamless continuity of care. As a result, the cardiology ward achieved a zero medication error rate, a remarkable milestone that underscores the hospital’s precision, teamwork, and patient-first philosophy.
The judges commended the initiative for “its innovative approach to patient safety and care quality. The team’s dedication to collaboration, precision, and patient-centred care sets a new benchmark for excellence in healthcare delivery.”
This recognition highlights Beacon Hospital’s broader mission to advance quality and safety across all areas of patient care. It also reaffirms the vital role of collaboration, data, and innovation in shaping the future of healthcare delivery.
As the Private Healthcare Awards continue in 2026, the programme will recognise organisations that are transforming healthcare through leadership, innovation, and compassion.
